What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I currently work in Family Medicine but see patients from newborn to geriatric stages. I was previously a pediatric RN for 5 years in Level I Trauma centers across the United States and loved being able to care for those who can't always express their needs fully. Their development begins from birth and as healthcare providers we need to ensure children receive the best care to reach their maximum potential.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I hold many qualities within rapport-building such as anticipatory care. This kind of care is important in order to know in advance what the patient may need/ask for to help create the best treatment plan for them - sometimes for things they don't even know they need. Building a professional relationship with your patient enhances communication and storytelling.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
Meeting special needs patients where they are is paramount to delivering quality care through communication adjustment and tailor plans to ensure equal treatment.
