Q&A with Dr. Rakaba
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
I love Avatar: The Last Airbender. Watching it as a kid on Nickelodeon is something I remember vividly.
What is your favorite children's book?
My favorite children's book is one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. It is the first book I remember reading and it stuck with me.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
I really liked playing with Bionicles as a kid. I really liked the red one because red is my favorite color and I thought the fire sword was really cool.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
My mom is my greatest inspiration, as even through all the trials and challenges in her life, she still chooses to be kind and help those in need. She inspired me to be the best I can be and I truly appreciate all she's done for me.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I enjoy playing video games in my free time. Whenever I am not doing that, I play trading card games, dungeons and dragons, other table top games, chess, and shooting sporting clays.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I am a family medicine doctor and enjoy seeing patients of all ages. One of the most rewarding experiences is being able to care for the entire family. I believe that preventative care is essential to living a healthy life and the earlier I can provide this care, the better.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I believe that one of the most important qualities as a physician is the ability to truly listen and build a relationship with my patients. I hope that my patients will be able to say after each visit that I truly listened and tried to get to the bottom of their concerns and answered all their questions throughout.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
The clinic is ADA compliant and has interpretation services available to ensure I am able to provide the best care possible.
