Q&A with Dr. Amelyanchyk
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
Up
What is your favorite children's book?
'The Gruffalo' is my favorite childhood book because it is a fun, imaginative story that taught me that being clever and confident can help you overcome even the biggest challenges. The story is also funny, memorable, and just a little bit scary.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
Tamagotchi was my favorite childhood toy because it gave me my first experience taking care of something that depended on me. It taught me responsibility, consistency, and what it was like to care for something I loved.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
My greatest inspiration is my family and 3 cats. They have been by my side during my medical training and aspire me to be the best doctor for my patients.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Our family loves traveling the world and going to the beach. We also love to visit flea markets to find hidden treasures.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I love Family Medicine because it allows me to care for the entire family while keeping each patient’s individual needs, goals, and story at the center of care. I also love the variety as it gives me the opportunity to practice across a wide breadth of medicine and care for patients through every stage of life.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I focus on patient-centered approach that combines evidence-based medicine with careful listening and individualized care. I strive to understand not only a patient’s medical concerns, but also their goals, lifestyle, family, and unique circumstances so we can develop a plan together. My goal is to build long-term relationships based on trust, compassion, and open communication, so patients feel heard, respected, and confident in their care.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
I focus on the patient as a whole and help navigate their medical life.
